Baby Blue Eyes Flowers at Hitachi Seaside Park

Hitachi Seaside Park is located in the northern region of Ibaraki Prefecture. The park covers 190 hectares or 470 acres. All year round there are different varieties of flowers blooming in the park. The Nemophila Harmony even refers to the 4.5 million baby blue eye flowers that bloom in from late April to mid-May. The best time to see the field is when there is a clear blue sky, which can be hard to predict since the park is near the ocean. From late March to mid-April you can see one million daffodils of 600 varieties blooming. It is known as the Suisen Fantasy and the flowers can be found in the land under the pinewoods. The sweet smelling area is blanketed in light and shadow as the pinewood trees provide that contrast. At the end of the Suisen Fantasy is the time when the Tulip World begins. There are over 280,000 colorful tulips of 220 varieties in the field. In late September to mid-October is the Kochia Carnival. The kochias (summer cypress) on the Miharashi hills turn from green to a crimson red. On the same hill there are cosmoses of pink, white, and red blooming and signaling the beginning of the autumn season.

At the Hitachi Seaside Park there are many bicycles trails that patrons may use to travel the large area. There is the Seaside Train that goes throughout the park and allows you to relax and view the flowers in the different gardens. The main attraction is indeed the flowers, but there is an amusement park located in the grounds called Pleasure Garden. You can find a small roller coaster, a labyrinth, water playground, miniature golf, BMX course, and huge Ferris wheel. From the Ferris wheel you can see the entire park from the top. In the summer time there is an event that brings in many rock music fans called Rock in Japan Festival. It is usually scheduled around August and is the largest rock festival in Japan.
