Hitsujiyama Park is located in Chichibu city and is twenty- minute walk from Seibu Chichibu station. The main attraction to the park is the 400,000 shibazakura (moss phlox) planted in the park. They are also known as lawn cherry blossoms. The hill where the flowers can be found covers 17,600 square meters. When walking around you can see the array of pink, white, and magenta colors arranged in a picturesque way. You can also see Mount Buko in the background, which gives a nice contrast to the brightly colored field. The season to see them is from mid-April to early May in this park. Aside from the moss phlox there are also one thousand cherry blossom trees scattered around the Hitsujiyama Park. The varieties you can see are yoshino, weeping, and double petal planted in the park. There are some other activities you can do at the park aside from flower viewing if you choose to further explore the area.
