Tsukiji Market

Tsukiji Fish Market (築地市場) is a very large wholesale market located in central Tokyo. They mainly sell fish at the market, but you can also find fruits and vegetables for sale. Out of all the wholesale markets in Japan Tsukiji is the most famous. Over 2,000 tons of marine products go through the market every day, which makes it the largest in the world. The fresh fish and busy atmosphere has made it a popular tourist spot. Various restaurants in the vicinity will readily have fresh fish available to eat for breakfast or lunch. It is one of the highlights in visiting the market as well as going to the very early in the morning Tuna Auction. A limited amount of 120 people can see the auction per day. The auction starts at 5:25am, but people usually line up hours before that time in order to get a spot to witness it.
