Hama Rikyu (浜離宮) is located alongside Tokyo Bay and is next to the skyscrapers of the Shiodome District. It is a landscape garden that was once the residence and hunting grounds of a feudal lord in the Edo Period (1603- 1867). It was later converted to a strolling garden as part of an imperial detached palace. Afterwards it became open to the public and has maintained its look from back in the day. On the grounds you can find a teahouse with views of the seawater ponds that change with the tides. In late November to early December you can see the maple, ginkgo and other trees change to autumn colors. Late February is when the plum blossoms are in season. Then in late March to early April you can see the cherry blossoms blooming. There are other types of flowers in the landscape garden that blooms in spring like peony and canola blossoms. Hama Rikyu has walking trails for visitors to enjoy with the contrasting of the surrounding skyscrapers and beautiful garden.
