Theme Parks

In Japan there are over a dozen of theme parks in Japan. Many of them can be attributed to the time of the bubble economy when numerous amusement parks were built. There are world renowned brand name theme parks like Disneyland and Universal Studios. Asakusa Hanayashiki is the oldest amusement park in Japan and was first built in 1853. In Japan there are a few theme parks that are unique to the country like the Sanrio Puroland, where the characters of the Sanrio Company are featured. However for the thrill seekers there are theme parks like Fuji Q Highland, where some of the Guinness World Record breaking roller coasters are located. If history is what you are looking for then you can go visit Nikko Edomura. The theme park is centered on the feudal era of the Edo Period (1603-1867) and replicates the look from back then. There is also the Toei Eigamura in Kyoto, but it doubles as a film set for historical based shows.

Most of the theme parks mentioned previously have been outdoors. If you are looking for places indoors to enjoy then check out Sega’s Joypolis, which has many locations all over japan. The main attractions to these places are the interactive video games that have you enter an actual car in order to play the racing game. Another indoor theme park is J-World located in Ikebukuro. It is themed after the characters of the popular Shonen Jump magazine. Inside there are small rides and games for visitors to enjoy as well as photo spots. If you have the time to check out a theme park in Japan make sure you do your research before to know what you want to do first.
