Huis Ten Bosch

This famous theme park located in Sasebo, Nagasaki prefecture recreates the atmosphere of the Netherlands by displaying a variety of life size Dutch buildings. Huis Ten Bosch gets its name from one of the residence of the Dutch Royal Family. The Park features many Dutch style buildings including hotels, villas, museums, shops, restaurants, iconic windmills, scenic canals and gardens filled with seasonal flowers. Built in 1992, this European wonderland’s location reflects upon the historical relations between Japan as a trading post opened by the Dutch as far as 400 years ago during the early Edo period. Today this spacious resort offers rides and attractions as well as an atmosphere featured in many television and anime series. Many events are held here at different times of the year, including the largest Tulip Festival in Japan during spring, a rose festival in May and firework festivals in the summer. Visitors can enjoy the European atmosphere and stroll along the scenic canals accompanied by live music performances. Gourmet cuisines are available after a long day of exploring in this theme park in Nagasaki.
