Hakone Open-Air Museum

Hakone Open Air Museum creates a synergetic balance between nature and art. On the grounds of the museum there are various sculptures that complement the surrounding valleys and mountains. The abstract sculptures scattered around are made by Japanese and international artists. Among them is the Symphonic Sculpture where visitors can enter the artwork and ascend a spiral staircase surrounded by colorful stained glass. Once you reach the viewing platform visitors are rewarded with views of the park and enveloping nature. In addition to the exhibitions outdoors, the indoor ones feature many pieces of artwork. The most popular exhibit is the Picasso Exhibition Hall where it showcases two stories worth of artwork by the artist and photographs of him throughout his life. There are a few exhibition halls where the exhibits rotate between various artists.
