National Museum of Emerging Science

The National museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (日本科学未来館) first opened in 2001 and was built in Odaiba. It is also known as Miraikan (Future Museum) for short. The museum was created by Japan’s Science and Technology Agency. Inside the museum there is the Geo-Cosmos, which is a high resolution globe that displays near real-time events of global ocean temperatures, geographic, scientific, weather patterns, and socioeconomic topics. It can be seen in the first floor along with the Special Exhibition Zone. There have been a number of special exhibits in the past years like “Making of the Tokyo Skytree, “Terminator Exhibition- Battle or Coexistence? Robots and our Future,” and “Pokémon Lab: You do it! You discover!” The third floor has interactive activities that are divided by art, information, lab, and robots. The fifth floor is separated by sections based on specific themes like Earth, life, and the universe.
