The SCMAGLEV and Railway Park was opened in 2011 and is the museum of Central Japan Railways. This museum has a collection of 39 retired trains on display, many of which can be entered and show the operation of different parts of the train. Another exhibit shows different operation and maintenance processes of the trains in Japan. Upon entering the museum, visitors are greeted by the latest model of Shinkansen, or bullet train, along with the latest experimental magnetic levitating trains. The museum also has one of the largest train dioramas in Japan. There are miniature trains running through detailed recreations of Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo as the background. Special train simulators allow travelers to experience operating both conventional and Shinkansen trains. Other activities allow guests to experience the duties of a train conductor, with interactive learning experiences on the second floor, which makes this Railway Park popular among family vacations.
