Katsuura Onsen is located on the southeast coast of the Kii Peninsula. Originally this location was a fishing port with more than 170 natural streams of hot spring water, which later turned into a hot spring resort area. The hot springs here are proven by doctors and specialist of Japan for curing muscle pains and aches. Two notable hotels in Katsuura are Urashima Hotel and Nakanoshima Hotel. Both can only be reached by boat and is open to non-staying guests. The Bokido Bath is owned by Urashima Hotel and is a located in a spacious coastal cave. Nakanoshima Hotel is on a private island with outdoor baths that have great coastal views. After a refreshing bath, most travelers can also enjoy the amazing tuna that this once fishing port has to offer.
