Kinosaki Onsen (城崎温泉) is one of the most famous hot spring places in Japan. It can be found Northern part of Hyogo and faces the Sea of Japan. In 720, a monk training in Kinosaki discovered the hot spring. After that the area developed around the hot spring and later became the Kinosaki Onsen town. There are still many wooden buildings along a river. There are seven famous hot springs in Kinosaki, which are Satono-yu(さとの湯), Ichino-yu(一の湯), Goshiyono-yu(御所の湯), Mandara- yu(まんだら湯), Jizo-yu(地蔵湯), Kouno-yu(鴻の湯), and Yanagi-yu(柳湯). These seven hot springs are collectively called Soto-yu (外湯). Visitors can walk around the area and try every hot spring, which features various mineral properties. When people go around the Soto-yu, it is required for those to wear Yukata, which is Japanese traditional clothing. Many of the Ryokan (旅館), Japanese style hotel, lend Yukata out to customers for use.
