Farm Tomita

Among the various summer lavender fields to visit in Furano, Farm Tomita is one of the most famous and oldest lavender farms in Hokkaido. It is privately owned land by the Tomita family. In recent years, Farm Tomita opened the Hanabito House, Tomita Lavender Museum, Greenhouse, Dried Flower House, Lavender East and Gallery Fleur. Located in the Higashinaka District of Kamifurano Town, Lavender East is one of the largest lavender fields in Japan. The rice paddies in the area were converted into lavender fields in order to help produce perfume ingredients. Even though Farm Tomita is famous for its lavender, there is another field that has garnered a reputation: Irodori Field. Here there are flowers of seven different colors adorning a rolling hill and is distinctively separated. The flowers that are grown here are purple lavender, red poppies, pink garden catchflies, white baby’s breath, and orange California poppies. The Hanabito House has a souvenir shop where you can buy various lavender goods as well as cafes nearby to try lavender flavored goods. The museum is on the upper floor of the Hanabito House and on the same floor is the scent testing room, where you can compare different types of lavender fragrances.
