The Gotemba Premium Outlets is located in Gotemba City, which is not far from Hakone. It is one of the most popular outlet malls in Japan. At the outlet there are over 200 stores with numerous restaurants scattered around. There is even a 50-meter-high Ferris wheel located within the grounds of the shopping center. It first opened in 2000 and is managed by the Mitsubishi Estate Simon Co. Ltd. The premium outlet mall expanded in 2003 and in 2008. There are many international brand name shops like Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Gucci, Dior, etc. Not all of the stores are luxury goods, but you can find sports, food, household goods, and electronics at discounted prices. As for the high end items it is much cheaper to buy them at the premium outlet than at the regular retail shop.
