The Fujisan World Heritage Center

The Fujisan World Heritage Center consists of two halls, which are known as the North Hall and South Hall. The North Hall is free to enter and has an information desk with details on climbing Mount Fuji and the weather conditions. There is also general information about the tourist attractions around Mount Fuji and in Yamanashi Prefecture. The South Hall requires an admission fee to enter. In the center of the hall is a 15 meter wide model of Mount Fuji made out of washi paper. The facility uses various lighting to change the color of the model depending on the time of the day or season. In another area is the Ochudo Corridor, which displays information about the Ochudo Way, a pilgrimage route that remains intact on the hillside of Mount Fuji. There is an 8 minute video that introduces the interactions between nature and people, which helped shape the culture around Mount Fuji. In the South Hall you can find many more displays about the history of the mountain and the inspiration it has provided to many works of art.
