Discover Japan features two itineraries that take full
advantage of Japan's glorious spring season. Our
Cherry Blossoms Tour presents a perfect opportunity
to see Japan during one of its loveliest seasons, with
visits to Tokyo's Chidorigafuchi Park and Kyoto's
Togetsukyo Bridge - both presenting visions of
thousands of sakura blooms in dreamy pastel pink.
Our other spring itinerary departs in late May. This
time is when parks and gardens are at their greenest -
and we give you the very best at Kanazawa's
Kenrokuen Garden - one of Japan's Three Great
Gardens. The mountain village of Shirakawa-go,
surrounded by gorgeous rice fields, is a must-see in
the spring season.
The weather cools down in autumn, and the time is
perfect to enjoy a stroll in Nara Park with some wild
Sika Deer, and to take in the austere monuments of
Hiroshima Peace Park, when the leaves of the ginkgo
trees start to change to a bright golden color. While
visiting Hiroshima, we include an excursion to nearby
Miyajima island to see Itsukushima Shrine and the
"floating gate".
Spring and Autumn are the best time to discover
Japan's
culturally rich destinations, with celebrated sites such
as the Mount Fuji region, Takayama Old Town, the
Kurashiki Canals, and Himeji Castle. We also include
special local experiences including a cooking class
with friendly elderly residents in the town of Ina and a
