What is the Osaka Expo?
Osaka Expo, also known as Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai,
is a World Expo event bringing together over a hundred
countries to consider major problems in the world and
how to improve society together. The overall theme of
the Expo is “Designing Future Society for our Lives”,
and each nation will be housed in pavilions divided
according to three separate sub-themes: “Saving Lives”,
“Empowering Lives”, and “Connecting Lives”. There will
also be thematic pavilions that explore these subthemes
in innovative ways, created by a set of Japanese
visionaries that include professors, artists, directors, and
animators. A World Expo has always been a venue to
display exciting new inventions, or new applications for
existing technology, and Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai aims
to continue that tradition. The thematic pavilions will
make use of such technologies as Internet of Things,
Big Data, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Renewable
Energy, and Biotechnology to paint a hopeful vision of a
better society, which the Expo calls “Society 5.0”. A
World Expo is also a parade of nations, where they can
exhibit their country’s historical treasures, artworks,
cuisines on a world stage, exposing attendees to
countries and cultures that they have never considered
before. Every nation will try and put their best foot
forward to create a positive impression in the minds of
the international community. While you are at the Expo,

When is Osaka Expo?
The Osaka Expo is scheduled to be held from April 13th
– October 13th, 2025, and All Japan Tours will run group

Where is Osaka Expo?
Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai is scheduled to be held in the
city of Osaka, on an artificial island in Osaka Bay called
Yumeshima, which means “Dream Island”. The host city,
Osaka, has a distinct culture – very Japanese, but with
regional differences that set it apart from the rest of the
country. The city has a unique character and is known
for its eccentric humor, music, performing arts…its
cuisine is especially famous – so much so that Osaka is
sometimes called “Japan’s Kitchen”. The Expo’s
