In mid-April, the cherry blossoms begin to bloom in the Japanese Alps area, such as Takayama, Shirakawago, and Kanazawa. Then, in mid to late April, cherry blossoms move to the Nikko and Tohoku area. Finally, Hokkaido experiences the cherry blossom season beginning in late April.
