This tour consists of the reversed Japan In Depth with Japanese Alps itinerary and an additional day in Osaka for the Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai.

Expo 2025 Osaka is a global event in Japan showcasing future technologies, cultural exhibits, and sustainability solutions. The event features national pavilions, an innovation zone, and artistic installations. There are two major festivals in Takayama every year, the Spring Sanno Festival in April and the Autumn Hachiman Festival in October. This itinerary is designed to give you an opportunity to experience one of the three largest festivals in Japan while enjoying Japan's popular custom of "koyou," or autumn leaves viewing, as well as an in-depth exploration of Japan's three main islands.

We will take you from Kyushu Island (Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Takachiho, Beppu) to Hiroshima (Honshu Island), then drive through the Shimanami Kaido to Shikoku Island (Takamatsu ), and cross the inland sea back to Honshu Island to visit Kurashiki, Himeji, Kobe, Osaka, Kyoto, Kanazawa, Takayama, Mt Fuji, and Tokyo. This tour is designed for people who want to see the undiscovered regions of Japan, as well as the more popular sights in Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima.

Hachiman Festival takes place on October 9th and 10th of every year. The main features of the Takayama Festival are gorgeous yatai (floats) decorated with detailed carvings, tapestries, and karakuri dolls (marionettes). This tour includes Tokyo's modern attractions, famous gardens in Takamatsu, as well as Kyoto's famous gardens, temples and shrines. We will take you back in time with visits to the charming village of Shirakawa-go and the beautifully preserved old town of Takayama and, notably, the Takayama Hachiman Autumn Festival. You'll have a profound appreciation for the skill and craftsmanship of the people of this land while watching ornate floats being lit up by traditional lanterns and escorted around the city by people dressed in traditional kimonos. This festive atmosphere is an unforgettable experience.

You'll get the opportunity to experience a green tea ceremony, meet a maiko (apprentice geisha) , enjoy a traditional Yokagura Dance Performance in Takachiho, learn how to make sushi with a professional chef, relax in the hot springs (onsen), savor gourmet kaiseki cuisine, ride a shinkansen (bullet train), and taste the world famous Wagyu beef in Kobe.

We will also visit Fuji-Hakone National Park, majestic castle at Himeji, and the Peace Memorial Museum and Park at Hiroshima. At Miyajima you can view the famed vermilion Torii Gate of Itsukushima Shrine. At high tide, the gates look like they're floating on the sea. At Nara, be inspired by the intricate architect and towering monuments, including the Great Buddha statue, and you'll understand why this city is considered the birthplace of Buddhism in Japan.

In Nagasaki we will visit Nagasaki Peace Park, Dejima, Glover Gardens with its romantic turn of the century houses, and Oura Catholic Church, the oldest standing Christian church in Japan. Visit Takachiho, a place of myths and legends. In Beppu, view the Jigoku "hell" pools of bubbling waters and geysers scattered across the town. Then enjoy a scenic drive to Mt. Takasaki Monkey Park where you can interact with some of the park's 1,500 Japanese monkeys. Kitsuki Samurai Districts will also be included in this tour.

This itinerary is perfect for those who want to see the main cities but also delve a little deeper into rural Japan.
