Discover Japan during one of its most enchanting seasons, when the cherry blossom trees or "sakura", slowly come in to bloom. From late March to mid April at temples, parks, and gardens all across the country, the delicate pink petals unfold in a display of fleeting loveliness that attracts viewers from all over the world. This 12-day spring cherry blossom itinerary offers the top destinations in Japan for you to enjoy, with must- experience culture and historical sights in Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Hiroshima, Kanazawa, Shirakawa-go, and more.

Tokyo is Japan's top destination to visit, and we take you on a tour of Tokyo's top sights, including Tsukiji Outer Market with special sushi-making class, Tokyo Skytree and Sensoji Temple - a landmark that is especially lovely during cherry blossom season. See the beauty of the samurai spirit in the Samurai Museum, and enjoy an evening food tour in Shinjuku. The city is also home to one of Japan's best cherry blossom-viewing spots - Chidorigafuchi Park. Sakura trees, branches puffed with pale pink blossoms, stand in long rows beside the old Imperial Palace moat, beckoning visitors walking beneath them into a uniquely Japanese springtime dream. Connect from Tokyo to Mount Fuji - a must-see national icon in any season, with the local addition of an exclusive visit to the silk art collection at the Itchiku Kubota Museum.

This tour of discovery offers a connection to Japanese culture on the local level with a visit to Ina and a culture exchange / cooking class with some of the city's residents. Then enjoy an exploration of the wonders of the Japanese Alps in a route that includes Takayama, with it's preserved merchants' district from the Edo period, followed by the UNESCO Heritage Village of Shirakawa-go, celebrated for rare local architecture known as "gassho-zukuri". Kanazawa sits at the other end of the alpine route, a city known for producing fine gold leaf. Here we've arranged you to attend a gold leaf workshop, without forgetting the magnificent Kenrokuen Garden - one of Japan's great traditional landscape gardens, exquisite in spring.

From there, Kyoto is our next destination, where you'll be awestruck by the hundreds of grandiose temples and shrines in the old imperial capital. This itinerary features the very best, including Fushimi Inari Shrine and the Golden Pavilion. We also visit Tenryuji Temple, a Zen Buddhist Temple located in the pretty Arashiyama District. While here, you'll stroll through a grove of towering bamboo, gaze out over Togetsukyo Bridge, and see the other charms of Arashiyama from the back of a rickshaw. Experiences designed to immerse you in traditional Japanese culture come included, with a chance to try on an elegant kimono, witness a time-honored Japanese tea ceremony, and delight in Kyoto kaiseki cuisine complete with entertainment by a geisha apprentice. Near Kyoto is Nara, an even more ancient capital city, and home to over a thousand friendly wild deer wandering freely outside Todaiji Temple.

Travel to Hiroshima to see the Peace Park and A- bomb Dome, followed by a delightful excursion to Miyajima Island and the floating gate of Itsukushima Shrine. Finally, wrap up your journey with visits to the Kurashiki canals, Himeji castle, and finally Kobe, where you'll savor some world-famous wagyu beef. The incredible culture, history, and food of Japan awaits your discovery on this memorable cherry blossom tour. Please browse the itinerary below for more detailed information.
