This traditional tour visits the must-see sights of Tokyo and Kyoto as well as some seasonal headliners showing the unique side of Japan. You will begin in Tokyo with Asakusa Sensoji Temple, one of the most iconic temples in Japan. Learn how to make your own sushi with a professional sushi chef and savor your delicious creations. This tour will continue to the Fuji Five Lakes area where you will enjoy the Kubota Art Museum and a special view of Mt. Fuji. This time of year, the pink moss "Shibazakura" spreads quickly over the fields near Mt. Fuji, creating a unique and beautiful sight.

You will then travel north to the Alps area where you will visit Takayama, Yudanaka, and the famous Alpine Route. You will start with the beautiful Matsumoto Castle, unique in that it's outer walls are black. You can also observe the wild snow monkeys as they relax it the hot spring pools of Jigokudani. Then, you will visit the star of the tour: the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. There are many activities along this route but our main focus will be the awe- inspiring scenery, fantastic views, and the famous Snow Corridor. Here, the walls of snow on either side of the road get up to 20-meters (65.5ft) high! Then, travel down to the town of Takayama to see the traditional side of Japan – from fresh food of the farm market to the architecture of the Shirakawa-go farm houses and the history of the Old Town with many functioning, centuries old businesses.

We will then travel from the historical farming and rural side of Japan to the historical city life of Japan. Kyoto was Japan's capital city for over 1000 years. It was relatively recently dethrowned by Tokyo in 1868. Due to its long history of being a bustling and productive capital, Kyoto has many impresive sites of great age and historical and cultural importance. Some of the most well-known are Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizu Temple, Arashiyama, and the Golden Pavilion. Here, you will experience the mixture of great history, culture, and beautiful nature as many sites are surounded by trees and forests. Most noteably, Kiyomizu, being build on a hill top with a stage overlooking the trees below, has a great view of the city beyond. Arashiyama as well features a large bamboo forest and the famous Togetsukyo Bridge.

This tour will also provide many unforgetable experiences such as a traditional green tea ceremony hosted by an apprentice geisha (maiko). You will also get to see and interact with the deer of Nara. As they are sacred to the Shinto religion, these deer have grown acustomed to they saftey of the shrine and so have no fear in interacting with people.

Finally, you will end your tour with a visit back to the hustle and bustle of a more modern city, Osaka. Here you will expereience Dotonbori and Shinsaibashi. These are well known for their shopping, lights, and animatronic displays. By the end of this short tour, you will be able to say that you have seen many different sides of Japan. From the fast pace of Osaka and Tokyo, to the rural landscape of the Alps – we hope you will take a better understanding of the great history, culture, food, and scenery of Japan home with you.
