Embark on an anime journey through Japan of child- like imagination and curious wonder on our Ghibli Anime Tour. Studio Ghibli is world-famous for loveable, life-like characters and Japan-inspired settings in their movies. On this tour you'll discover both Ghibli and Japan through real locations based on the films, reconstructions of Ghibli-inspired fantasy scenes, as well as the Ghibli museum, which immerses visitors in the worlds they created. Our 6-day itinerary explores the sights most connected with these beloved anime through Tokyo and Yokohama, in addition to bringing you those whimsical experiences you might see in a Ghibli production.

After arriving in Tokyo, we spend a day in Yokohama exploring some of the locations from the film "From Up on Poppy Hill", which was set in the city. The Negishi Natsukashi Park and Yamate Italian Garden Diplomat's House are gorgeous settings with charming period architecture which were both used as art references for the film. We take the opportunity while in Yokohama to visit the Cup Noodles Museum Yokohama, a delightfully original museum where visitors can create their own original cup noodle treat in addition to learning about the history of the brand and it's creator, Momofuku Ando. Then we take a refreshing stroll through Harbor View Park. which offers splendid views of Yokohama Port.

The following day brings a must-do on a Ghibli itinerary: a visit to the Ghibli Museum. The museum puts visitors in a world of colorful fantasy from the moment you enter, with a large Totoro greeting guests at the ticket gate. Within the museum itself, rooms designed by director Hayao Miyazaki bring guests into an atmosphere of child-like wonder, movies designed exclusively for the museum invite patrons to get lost in the studio's creative genius, and charming drawing studios offer a glimpse of the animation process. The adventure continues at the Shirohige Cream Puff Factory, offering Ghibli characters made into specialty snacks. The Suginami Animation Studio offers a glimpse of animation history and process, and Nakano Broadway is the perfect place for souvenir shopping - especially for anime goods.

The next few days offer a discovery of Japan's traditional culture at the Tokyo Edo Architecture Open Air Museum. Then, at Sayama Park Totoro's Forest, amble through a real forest inspired by My Neighbor Totoro. Then it's off to Shibuya, with the Pokémon Center, the famed statue of Hachiko the Dog, and the Shibuya "Zebra" Crossing. Further sightseeing includes a visit to the Nippon TV Ghibli Clock - an fanciful public timepiece designed the Ghibli-style charm, and a walk through Odaiba to see the impressive Unicorn Gundam Statue which overshadows the entertainment district. The tour wraps up exploring Gajoen Hyakudan Kaidan (which inspired Spirited Away), and an evening in exciting Akihabara - the anime culture capital of the world.

A couple optional Tokyo attractions can be added to your tour package: a Sailor Moon Dinner Show starring the popular magical girls from the anime, and the Akasaka Ninja Restaurant with ninja waiters and decor, and a futuristic, brightly illuminated Robot Restaurant. Browse our detailed itinerary below for more information. Please note that optional experiences/attractions mentioned below are not included in the cost.
