Experience the longest and most comprehensive escorted group tour of Japan that you will find on our 22 Days Grand Tour to Japan. Visiting all 4 main islands of Japan, this itinerary is designed for people who wish to see both cherry blossoms and wisteria by starting the tour from far south, traveling all the way up to the Ashikaga Flower Park for its Great Wisteria, and then to see the cherry blossoms in Hokkaido. This tour caters a wide variety of interests about Japan from culture, architecture, nature, rural villages, historic towns, and modern city attractions.

Begin your journey in Nagasaki and visit the Nagasaki Peace Park, which is a memorial to the victims of the second atomic bomb dropping that hit Japan. Head to Dejima, an area with over 400 years of history as a Dutch Trade Post. Make your way to Glover Gardens, an open- air museum that exhibits mansions of former Western residents. We will also go to Oura Church, the oldest Christian church in Japan.

Explore the legendary town of Takachiho for an opportunity to see a special Yokagura Dance Performance. Continue to Beppu for its “Boiling Hells” hot spring attractions. Afterwards, our group will go to the Mt. Takasaki Monkey Park and meet with some of the 1,500 wild Japanese monkeys up close. You will also have the chance to spend time in a former samurai district before boarding a high speed Shinkansen bullet train to Hiroshima.

From there, visit Hiroshima’s eye-opening Peace Memorial Museum and surrounding Peace Park. Take a ferry to Miyajima Island, one of the top three scenic places in Japan and home to the famed "floating" torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine. Then, drive through the Shimanami Kaido, a 60 kilometer long toll road that connects Japan's main island of Honshu to the island of Shikoku.

Stroll through an open air museum and visit the stunning Ritsurin Park in Takamatsu. Drive through the Seto Ohashi Bridge back to Honshu Island, and end your night with a relaxing spa bath and a traditional kaiseki banquet dinner. Spend time in the photogenic canal area of Kurashiki and at the majestic Himeji Castle, one of the few remaining original castles in Japan. Proceed to Kobe to savor the world famous Wagyu beef.

Travel to Nara, where you can appreciate the intricate architecture and towering monuments of Todaiji Temple, including the Great Buddha statue. Then, spend time at a deer park where over 1,000 Sika deer freely roam. Our group will also spend two days in Kyoto, where we have hand selected the best temples, and shrines. Outside of Kyoto, tour through a charming bamboo forest and a traditional Zen garden of Tenryuji Temple in Arashiyama. Our travel group will also have opportunities to experience a traditional green tea ceremony with an apprentice geisha (maiko).

Ride a high speed Shinkansen bullet from Kyoto to Maibara. From there, visit the beautiful Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa before touring the charming village of Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Takayama, get a glimpse of what 15th Century Japan was like by visiting its beautifully preserved Old Town. Our group will also visit the Matsumoto Castle, also known as the Black Crow Castle.

Enjoy the ever-changing scenery along the way to Mt. Fuji, then take a ropeway ride over Hakone and Owakudani. Enjoy a guided tour in Tokyo, where you will visit the city’s cultural landmarks, fashionable neighborhoods, diverse shopping districts, and even learn how to make your own sushi with a professional chef.

Discover the 150 year old Great Wisteria Tree at Ashikaga Flower Park, along with a cascading tunnel of various wisteria flowers. Afterwards, we will continue our journey to Nikko. The Japanese have a saying: "Don’t say kekko (wonderful) without seeing Nikko." We will visit the main attraction of Nikko - Toshogu Shrine. Toshogu enshrines the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate and is lavishly decorated with a large amount of gold leaf and countless wooden carvings of various creatures. These sites have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites in Nikko. Continue to Matsushima, where you will get to enjoy a sightseeing cruise along the picturesque bay of pine tree covered islands.

Head to Hiraizumi for a peaceful stroll along the Chusonji Temple, another designated World Heritage Site. Enjoy the Kitakami Tenshochi Cherry Blossom Festival before proceeding to Hakodate by crossing the Tsugaru channel between the islands of Hokkaido and Honshu, via the undersea train tunnel.

Our trip continues in Hokkaido, the second largest, northernmost, and least developed land of Japan's four main islands. On the island of Hokkaido, we will visit the Hakodate Morning Market, see cherry blossoms at Fort Goryokaku, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Onuma Park and Lake Toya. Walk through the steamy trails of Jigokudani (Hell’s Valley), learn about the indigenous people of Hokkaido in Ainu Museum, and visit the city of Sapporo for its historical monuments and entertainment district. Lastly, spend time in the quaint town of Otaru for its nostalgic canal area and reminiscent shopping streets. This itinerary is perfect for those who wish to discover the whole country at once and see all that Japan has to offer.
