On your first day sightseeing in Beijing, start with the capital's central landmark: Tiananmen Square, situated just outside the famed Gate of Heavenly Peace. Wander around one of the largest public squares, amid hundreds of flowering planters, and don't forget to look for the Monument to the People's Heroes in the center of the Square. Then make your way around to the Meridian Gate to enter the Forbidden City. As the exclusive abode of China's imperial family for about five centuries, no one could enter the city except by the emperor's express permission. Now the ancient and beautiful buildings are now open to the viewing public, so visitors may explore many places with such glorious names as the Hall of Supreme Harmony or the Gate of Divine Prowess. Finally, walk one of most Beijing's most impressive commercial districts, Wangfujing Street. This long thoroughfare aims to be the equal of Paris' Champs Elysees, and is studded with name brand shops, including the Beijing Department Store and the Xinhua Bookstore Store. For lunch, enjoy one of the most delectable and well-known Chinese delicacies - Peking roast duck, prized for its crispy texture over the tender meat, carefully marinated in sweet seasoning.
After breakfast, take a trip to China's most famous national monument - the Great Wall. Nearest to Beijing is the section of the Wall located at Juyongguan, which is a narrow mountain pass. Called one of the three Impregnable Passes, the Juyong section of the Wall has been fortified as a military stronghold since the early Ming Dynasty. This pass is popular because it is one of the easiest to climb, and even has many wheelchair- accessible areas, so as many people can enjoy the exquisitly mantained buildings and carvings. Next, head over to another of China's UNESCO Heritage Sites - the Tombs of the Ming Emperors. This enormous necropolis holds 13 different Ming tombs, each built like large temples, which offer unique insight into Ming life and culture. Only 3 of the current Ming Tombs are open to the public.
The morning will be free for leisure time. At the designated time, we will transfer to the railway station for our trip to Xian by High Speed Rail to Xian. Upon arrival, meet your local guide and enjoy a delicious dinner before transferring to your hotel.
Begin the day in Xian at the Museum of Terracotta Warriors. Built in the 2nd century BC to protect the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, thousands of clay infantry, cavalry, and horses stand at attention in ready battle formation, each incredibly detailed, even to the point of having distinct facial features. After exploring the astoundingly detailed statues, move on to the Pool and Palace of Huaquing. Also referred to as the Huaqing Hot Springs, these bath houses were favored by numerous emperors, including the Tang Emperor Xuanzong and his consort, one of China's Four Great Beauties - Yang Guifei. A marble statue of Yang, with delicate form seeming to rise from the water, commemorating one of Chinese literature's most famous - and tragic - love stories. In the evening return to the city's historic center to see the Xian Bell Tower - a classically constructed symbol of old Xian. Two stories high, though with three golden sets of eaves, it worked in tandem with the nearby Drum Tower to maintain Chinese dominance in the area and warn of the coming of invaders. While in the area, enjoy a delicious lunch of Chinese dumplings - another cultural favorite.
At the designated time, transfer to the local Airport for your domestic flight to Shanghai. Then meet your local guide in the arrival hall and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to explore Shanghai at your leisure.
Begin the day's journey through Shanghai by exploring The Bund - a large quay which abuts the Huangpu River. Standing along the shores of the Bund are a variety of buildings which feature different styles of European design. This architectural exhibition has given this area the nickname "The Museum of Buildings". Then head to the Old City of Shanghai, past traditional teahouses and curio shops, to explore the tranquil and prestigious Yu Garden. Built over 400 years ago by an imperial court official, this large garden features classical gardening techniques, as well as several old buildings including Huxinting Teahouse, which is still in use. Other features include a Great Rockery and a large pond full of koi fish. Then travel to the Observation Deck of the Shanghai World Financial Center Tower. It features a trapezoidal aperture near the top which gives the building a very futuristic appearance, and offers magnificent views of the city from the observation deck at the top of the aperture. Finally, take a walk down Nanjing Road - a huge shopping district in Shanghai roughly a century old, home to upscale fashion brands, electronics, books, or toys, with the addition of more traditional crafts like jade, embroidery, and silk.
After breakfast, free for leisure until your transfer to Shanghai Pudong or Hongqiao International Airport for your flight to Japan. Upon arrival Osaka, an AJT representative will meet you at the arrival gate holding an "All Japan Tours" sign.

Today, we will go to Yumeshima in Osaka Bay to explore the wonders of Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai. This unique event is perfect for those interested in community-building, creative technology, and culture! The expo will showcase cutting-edge technologies, innovative solutions, and cultural exhibits from around the world. With the theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives," it aims to address global challenges and envision a sustainable, interconnected future. The event will provide a platform for countries, organizations, and individuals to collaborate and share ideas, fostering international cooperation and progress. The convention includes an array of entertainment, from music to water shows to projection maps. A mix of traditional and pop- culture performances will also take place at the expo! Spend the day immersing in the Expo’s enchanting mélange of multicultural delights, thought provoking proposals, and modern/traditional entertainment after which we return for a relaxing evening at the hotel.
In the morning, we will visit Osaka Castle, whose construction began in 1583 on the ruins of the Ishiyama Honganji Temple. The castle was the largest of its time and played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century. From Osaka, our coach departs to Nara, the oldest capital city of Japan. We will visit Todaiji Temple, the largest wooden building in Japan. The temple also houses the largest bronze statue of Buddha at 15 meters (49 feet) meters high, and the surrounding park is filled with over 1,000 Sika deer. In the afternoon we will travel to Kyoto, a historical city that was spared from air raids and saved from the atomic bomb during World War II for its cultural and historical value. We will visit to the stunning vermilion colored Fushimi Inari Shrine, whose 4 km (2.5 mile) long tunnel of scarlet torii gates was featured in the film Memoirs of a Geisha. This complex wraps around a bamboo wilderness that includes mountains, streams, and ponds, the perfect backdrop for a scenic hike. We will stay two nights in Kyoto.
Today we will continue our tour of Kyoto, once the capital of Japan and still considered its cultural center. First is a visit to Arashiyama to see Tenryuji Temple where you can have a glimpse of traditional Zen landscape garden design. Then proceed through a dense bamboo forest, past several small shrines, tea shops and private houses before arriving at the Togetsukyo Bridge over Hozu River. Continue on to Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion) covered with 18-karat gold leaf. This three-story structure was originally built by the Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1397. Then, enjoy a relaxing Green Tea Ceremony. This activity was once only available for the social elite. Today, it will be even more special as your host will be an apprentice Geisha, known as a Maiko. We will end our day in the Gion Geisha District, where its streets are lined with ochaya (teahouses), exclusive establishments where guests are entertained by Geisha and Maiko.
Continue your tour of the historic city of Kyoto at Kiyomizu- dera – a famous temple in Japan that is best known for its large wooden stage that overlooks a hillside of natural scenery. We will then continue to the famous Miho Museum. The Miho Museum has stunning architecture that accentuates the surrounding nature while exhibiting a variety of items from different ancient civilizations. It was designed by the renowned architect, I. M. Pei, and is named after Koyama Mihoko, one of the richest women in Japan and the founder of the museum. This museum is also listed as one of the "1000 Places to See Before You Die". From there, visit Koka Ninja Mansion. This mansion used to be resided in by ninja, equipped with many ingenious traps and devices, designed to prevent intruders and to provide a means of escape in times of need. Next, we will experience a Shinkansen bullet train ride, which can reach speeds of up to 300 km/hr. We will stay at the Onsen Hotel at Hamanako Kanzanji onsen, where you can soak in the therapeutic waters of a spa bath and feast on a traditional Japanese Kaiseki banquet dinner.
Note: If Miho Museum is close, we will visit Kyoto National Museum or Sagawa Art Museum instead.
After enjoying Japanese breakfast at the hotel, we will travel to Hakone and take a 20 minute ropeway from Togendai to Owakundani. Much of the area here is considered an active volcanic zone since its creation from the eruption of Mount Hakone some 3,000 years ago. There, you can experience hot springs and hot rivers, where sulfurous fumes still linger. Owakundani also has splendid views of Mount Fuji in good weather. From Hakone we will proceed to Mt. Fuji on our private coach. Along the way, enjoy the changing scenery, from thick vegetation to lowlands and rolling clouds. We will stop at Mt. Fuji 5th station (depending on weather) to admire the world famous peak. In the afternoon we will travel to Tokyo. Our last visit for this day is Shibuya. We will be able to see the famed Shibuya Crossing in action and cross the street with the crowd. We will then take photos with the Hachiko Statue at the crossing, which is a monument dedicated to a loyal dog that waited even after his master passed away.
Today, you will visit Tsukiji Outer Market – a
bustling
outdoor street market known for its fresh and
delicious
seafood, produce, and kitchenware. From
there, we
drive by the Imperial Palace, which offers
splendid views
of the meticulously maintained front lawn and
garden
areas, the moat, and the old stone walls. Next,
enjoy a
fun and simple Sushi-Making Experience,
where you
can enjoy creating your own sushi, and eating it
afterwards! Then, we visit Tokyo’s oldest temple
complex – Asakusa Sensoji Temple, featuring
the
Kaminarimon Gate, in which hangs an
enormous red
lantern. Leading up to the temple is Nakamise
Street,
which is lined with shops selling all manner of
Japanese
souvenirs. At the end of the day, we ascend
Tokyo
Skytree to the observation deck, which offers a
panoramic 360-degree view of the Tokyo
cityscape.

China’s capital city of Beijing is a unique cultural mix: centuries old, yet constantly new – reinventing itself ever closer to the future. Initially built in the 1600s, Tiananmen Square is the unofficial center of Beijing. The public square outside the Gate of Heavenly Peace has been a focal point for much of China’s major historic moments, including the Announcement of the People’s Republic and the 1989 Tiananmen Square Protests. Located in the square are a few other important sites, including the Monument to the People’s Heroes and Mao Zedong’s Mausoleum.

This vast complex housed the Chinese Ming and Qing imperial family for nearly 500 years, with 980 buildings all built in the traditional Chinese architectural style. Included among such impressive structures is the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the Palace of Tranquil Longevity, and the Gate of Divine Might. Also includes a Palace Museum displaying numerous artworks from as far back as the Qing Dynasty.
Formerly a mansion district for Chinese nobility; now a bustling Commercial Thoroughfare.
Wangfujing is a wide commercial promenade with hundreds of stores, including the great Beijing Department Store, Beijing APM, and Beijing Mall. The great pedestrian boulevard is frequented by hundreds of thousands of daily shoppers – an excellent opportunity for people-watching. Off one side is Wangfujing Snack Street, which serves a wide variety of exotic and delicious street foods.

Once savored by Chinese nobility, this delicious dish has become a favorite food of numerous celebrities and foreign dignitaries to the People’s Republic. The Chinese duck, after being specially prepared and marinated in sweet and savory seasonings, is brought to the table by the chef to be meticulously carved. This lends the Peking Duck as much exquisitely royal style as crisp, tender substance.

The Great Wall was built in China’s ancient past to ward off invaders, and the Pass of Juyongguan was known as one of the three “Impregnable Passes” because of its strong fortification. The section of the Wall in this narrow mountain pass was built in a loop to surround temples, soldiers’ barracks and other old buildings including a central “Cloud Platform” which once held three tall stupas.

Originally begun by the Yongle Emperor according to the Chinese principles of feng shui, creating a symbolic harmony between heaven and earth, the Tombs of the Ming Emperors are now a UNESCO Heritage Site. Walking the central Sacred Path brings visitors to these opulent royal mausoleums, unearthing a new understanding of centuries of Ming-era culture and traditional art.
Once the ancient capital of China in the distant past and one of the ending points of the great Silk Road, Xian maintains its traditional Chinese feel. With plenty of preserved areas including the Hua Qing Pool, Old Xian Bell Tower, not forgetting the world-famous Terracotta Army, Xian is a city made to delight anyone interested in Chinese history and archaeology.

Supposedly built to defend the First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty in the afterlife, the soldiers of the Terracotta Army are truly an incredible wonder of ancient Chinese art and craftsmanship. Sealed underground for centuries, these clay warriors, horses, and chariots are exquisitely preserved and intricately detailed, down to the minute differences found in each soldier’s face.

Huaqing pool is a geothermal spring that is home to a palatial bathhouse with scenic views of the countryside around Mount Li. This hot spring is especially renowned in Chinese historical lore as the place where the last of Ancient China’s Four Great Beauties, Yang Guifei, captured the heart of the Tang Emperor, memorialized at the site in an elegantly carved statue of Yang.

The Bell Tower of Xian has been the center of the city since the first days of the Ming dynasty, when Xian was also the official seat of Imperial China. Symmetrical and stately, the inside is decorated with inscriptions from the Ming and Qing eras, as well as housing a replica of the original bronze Jingyun bell, which rang throughout the old city every morning.

While dumplings are common to most areas of China, Xian dumplings are born of a mixture of Chinese and Tibetan culture. As much of a culinary art in the city of Xian as they are a delectable dish, visitors to select restaurants can experience the taste of Chinese dumplings prepared in a variety of colorful styles and unique flavors.
Shanghai is one of the most prosperous commercial centers of China, with its sights more set on a bright and colorful present than ancient past. Though there are some nods to the history of the city in Old Shanghai and the Yu Garden, the life of the city is found beating out a steady pace past tall skyscrapers, down the stylish shopping lane of Nanjing Road all the way to the proud European edifices of the Bund waterfront district.

The Bund of Shanghai refers to a large waterfront promenade stretching alongside the Huangpu River. Once a prominent financial district in the 1800s, this vintage walk preserves an intriguing jumble of European architectural style in an international “exhibition of buildings”. This mix of structures presents a fascinating contrast to the modern skyscrapers on the other side of the river.

Yu Garden was built by a court official of the Ming imperial era to be the largest and most exquisite garden in Shanghai. Passing through many different owners in the succeeding centuries has expanded the features of this “Garden of Happiness” to be one of the most unique gardens in the world, with an old-fashioned teahouse (still in use), a large rockery, detailed carvings, and a great “Jade Rock”.

The Shanghai WFC Tower is a unique skyscraper in Shanghai, and one of the city’s tallest, at 492 meters, and with a very distinct and breathtaking observation deck at 474 meters, suspended over a trapezoid-shaped aperture. Visitors can see the Huangpu River running off toward the horizon, surrounded by an impressive vista of Shanghai skyscrapers and other local features.

Running from The Bund all the way to the People’s Square, Nanjing Road is by far the most popular shopping districts in Shanghai. After nearly a century of development, East and West Nanjing Road is now home to many luxurious boutique stores selling chic fashion brands, electronics, books and toys. Though more old- fashioned Chinese goods, like jade and silk, are also represented.
Osaka is the second largest city in Japan in terms of size located not too far from Kyoto. This city is one of the top three destinations for tourist visiting Japan after Tokyo and Kyoto. Osaka Expo, also known as Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, is a World Expo event bringing together over a hundred countries to consider major problems in the world and how to improve society together. The overall theme of the Expo is “Designing Future Society for our Lives”, and each nation will be housed in pavilions divided according to three separate sub-themes: “Saving Lives”, “Empowering Lives”, and “Connecting Lives”. There will also be thematic pavilions that explore these subthemes in innovative ways, created by a set of Japanese visionaries that include professors, artists, directors, and animators. A World Expo has always been a venue to display exciting new inventions, or new applications for existing technology, and Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai aims to continue that tradition. The thematic pavilions will make use of such technologies as Internet of Things, Big Data, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Renewable Energy, and Biotechnology to paint a hopeful vision of a better society, which the Expo calls “Society 5.0”. A World Expo is also a parade of nations, where they can exhibit their country’s historical treasures, artworks, cuisines on a world stage, exposing attendees to countries and cultures that they have never considered before. Every nation will try and put their best foot forward to create a positive impression in the minds of the international community. Japan's main islands of Honshu, Kyushu and Hokkaido are served by a network of high speed train lines that connect Tokyo with most of the country's major cities. Japan's high speed trains (bullet trains) are called shinkansen and are operated by Japan Railways (JR).
