Like our other "Japan In Depth" itineraries, this comprehensive tour is designed for people who want to see the undiscovered regions of Japan, as well as the more popular sights in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima, plus an opportunity to visit the Japanese Alps regions - Takayama and Matsumoto. In addition, you will also visit the Great Wisteria of Ashikaga Flower Park on this tour.

This reverse itinerary begins in Nagasaki, where you will first visit Glover Gardens with its romantic turn of the century houses, Nagasaki Peace Park, Oura Catholic Church, and Dejima, a former trading district with centuries of Dutch history. Spend time in the legendary town of Takachiho, where you will be treated to a special Yokagura Dance Performance. View the hot spring “hells” of Beppu, interact with some of the 1,500 wild Japanese monkeys Mt. Takasaki Monkey Park, and visit a beautifully preserved samurai district.

Take a high-speed Shinkansen bullet train to Hiroshima for an eye-opening experience at Peace Memorial Park. Then, enjoy a short ferry ride to Miyajima Island, home to the famed vermilion torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine. Drive through the Shimanami Kaido, a 60 kilometer long toll road that connects Japan's main island of Honshu to the island of Shikoku, passing over six small islands. Take in the views of the Seto Inland Sea from the Kirosan Observatory. Stroll through a pleasant air museum, visit Ritsurin Park, and then cross the Seto Ohashi Bridge back to the Honshu Island. End your day with a relaxing soak in a spa bath and a delicious Japanese kaiseki dinner.

You will also have the opportunity to experience a traditional green tea ceremony, learn how to make sushi with a professional sushi chef, watch a kimono fashion show, and taste world famous Wagyu beef. Continue to the charming canal town of Kurashiki and stop by one of the most visited castles in Japan, Himeji Castle. Head to Nara for its noteworthy Todaiji Temple, and spend time at a deer park where over 1,000 Sika deer freely roam.

Spend two days in Kyoto, where you will get to tour a hand-selected list of the city’s best shrines, temples, and gardens. Visit a charming bamboo forest and a traditional Zen garden in Arashiyama, located on the outskirts of Kyoto. Then, tour the famous Gion Geisha District, lined with restaurants and ochaya (teahouses). Stroll through the beautiful Kenrokuen Garden in Kanazawa before visiting the charming village of Shirakawa-go, distinguished for its Gassho-zukuri architecture.

Go back in time by visiting the quaint town of Takayama, hidden in the Japanese Alps region. Due to its secluded location, this area has maintained a traditional atmosphere and a unique culture different from the rest of Japan. Our group will also visit the outstanding Matsumoto Castle, also known as “Crow Castle” for its elegant black exterior.

Enjoy panoramic views of Hakone and Owakudani by taking a ropeway ride, and then gaze upon the iconic Mt Fuji. Spend time in Tokyo, where you will visit the city’s modern attractions, historical monuments, and lively entertainment districts. Head to the Ashikaga Flower Park and see the breathtaking Great Wisteria Tree that is over 150 years old. Before your tour ends, visit the Omiya Bonsai Museum, where you will learn about the art of bonsai and view bonsai masterpieces.
