Begin your fall vacation in the city of Tokyo, where you will tour through some of the city’s famous sites historical landmarks. This includes the Imperial Palace and the Asakusa Sensoji Temple, both well-known attractions in Tokyo. Shop with a professional chef at the Tsukiji Outer Market, where you will use the ingredients you purchased for a delicious home cooking lesson. Then, visit the tallest structure in Japan, the Tokyo Skytree, for breathtaking views of the Kanto region from its modern observation deck. Experience a special dinner with a foreign exchange student, where you may gain insight of what living in Japan is like from a foreign perspective.

Enjoy the changing colors of autumn leaves along the winding turns of Irohazaka road in Nikko. Then, visit one of Japan’s most beautiful waterfalls, the Kegon Waterfall, which happens to be a gorgeous spot to see autumn leaves. From there, reach the lavishly decorated resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate. Head to the beautiful countryside of Kusunuma and experience wine tasting with relaxing views. Gaze upon the iconic Mt. Fuji before visiting the photogenic Lake Kawaguchiko. From there, spend time at the fascinating museum of Kubota Itchiku, famous for his silk dyeing technique that he used to create elaborately decorated kimonos.

Stroll through the brilliant art exhibit of the Hakone Open Air Museum in Hakone. Afterwards, enjoy sightseeing around the stunning Lake Ashi on a leisurely cruise. Take in the natural scenery of Hakone on a ropeway ride, then explore the steamy volcanic valley of Owakudani.

Travel to Osaka by boarding one of Japan’s high-speed bullet trains. From there, visit the historic Osaka Castle, once the largest castle at its time of completion. Make your way to extraordinary Todaiji Temple in Nara. Famous for being the home to a giant bronze Buddha statue, its main hall is also one of the largest wooden structures in the world. Stop by the Deer Park located just outside of the temple, where you can meet some freely roaming Sika deer and enjoy the amber colored foliage.

Spend three days in the ancient city of Kyoto, where you will visit its must-see sites and partake in exclusive cultural activities. Experience wearing a Japanese kimono while exploring Kyoto, practice Zen meditation with a monk, take part in a traditional tea ceremony with a tea master, and enjoy fine dining with an apprentice geisha (maiko).
