Of all Japan's iconic symbols, is there any that make Japan more majestic than cherry blossoms? This 14- day itinerary offers a route through the must-see sights and attractions of Japan graced in the otherworldly loveliness of cherry blossoms, with stops in Sapporo, Otaru, Tokyo, Kyoto, Shirakawa-go, Hakone, and more. The route features Mount Yoshino - the top place to see cherry blossoms in Japan.

Even though springtime is beginning for the rest of Japan, the north island still holds on to its last breath of winter - the perfect chance to take in some native Hokkaido culture. We start in Hokkaido's capital, where we take you on a sightseeing tour through the local heritage landmarks, with time tucked in to taste live crab - a Sapporo specialty. Then discover one-of- a-kind experiences in Hokkaido's idyllic countryside, including a relaxing natural foot bath near Noboribetsu, a ropeway gondola ride over beautiful Lake Toya, and a chance to live as a samurai for an afternoon in Niseko. Take a day to explore the charming port city of Otaru before boarding an overnight ferry to the main island.

Winter finally ends on arrival in Niigata, and we enter Japanese springtime on a scenic drive through the majestic Japanese Alps on a route filled with adorable Japanese snow monkeys, imposing Matsumoto "Black Crow" Castle, quaint Edo-period scenes at Old Town Takayama, and the sleepy mountain village of Shirakawa-go - a UNESCO Heritage Site. You may expect glimpses of cherry blossoms here and there during our stops through the mountain route before finally arriving in Kyoto - the former imperial capital.

Before sightseeing in Kyoto begins, we take a special detour, passing through the ancient city of Nara before arriving at Mount Yoshino. This location is celebrated as the very best place in Japan to view cherry blossoms in spring. Ranged along the mountain side is a fantastic forest of sakura cherry trees, and this season sees Mount Yoshino almost completely covered in a dreamy canopy of dainty pink petals.

The ancient city of Kyoto is exquisite in spring, when the picturesque gardens of a thousand temples and shrines grow bright green, liberally splashed with seasonal colors of sakura pink and pastel white. We stop at only the highest-rated - Kiyomizu Temple and the Golden Pavilion among others, with time included to wander through the Gion Geisha District, wear a kimono, and drink matcha green tea with a geisha apprentice.

Moving on toward the bright lights of Tokyo for the final leg of the tour, we take a stop in Hakone for a look at the thought-provoking sculptures and interactive sculptures of the Hakone Open Air Museum, followed with a cruise around Lake Ashi in a pirate ship. Finally, we wrap up the tour with the popular sights of Tokyo, including Tsukiji Fish Market, Sensoji Temple, and Tokyo Skytree.
