Japan may be recognized for its technological advances, but its culture can be traced back to ancient religious practices that have influenced modern day society. On this tour, we will be traveling to many scenic, spiritual, and historical places in Japan. Since many of Japan's spiritual sites are located in densely forested areas, visitors will be rewarded with picturesque views that invoke a sense of calmness. On top of experiencing the mythical side of Japan, this itinerary also gives travelers a chance to admire the country's distinguished cherry blossom trees.

We will first tour through the historical landmark figures of Japan, like Himeji Castle, Kurashiki, and Hiroshima. Continue to Miyajima Island, one of Japan's three most scenic places. Then, drive through the Shimanami Kaido, a 60 kilometer long toll road that connects Japan's main island of Honshu to the Shikoku Island with photo- worthy views along the way. Steeped in fascinating folklore and history, Shikoku is dotted with 88 pilgrimage temples and scenic trails. While here, spend some time at the Shikoku Mura Village and Ritsurin Park, a masterpiece in Japanese landscape.

Take a ferry to the Wakayama Prefecture and visit Koyasan, where you will get to experience staying overnight at a temple and try vegetarian monk cuisine. In the morning, you will have a chance to join the monks in their meditation practice to further understand their traditional lifestyle. From there, explore a pathway of temples, shrines, and other significant structures along the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Trail, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gaze upon the tallest waterfall in Japan, Nachi Falls, located on the site of Nachi Grand Shrine. Follow the pilgrimage route to the Ise Grand Shrine, one of the most sacred shrines in Japan that is dedicated to the Sun Goddess Amaterasu. Afterwards, stop by the centuries-old Okage Yokocho District and Mikimoto Pearl Island.

Travel to Nara to visit the remarkable Todaiji Temple and the nearby Deer Park. Then, spend two days in Kyoto, the center of traditional Japanese culture. The gardens and temples you will visit in Kyoto have been selected for their high ranking cherry blossom spots. Experience an authentic green tea ceremony, interact with a maiko (apprentice geisha), and be keen on an elegant kimono fashion show. Head to Arashiyama, best known for its bamboo forest and traditional Zen landscape garden at Tenryuji Temple.

Then visit the beautiful, but often overlooked by Western tourists, city of Kanazawa. Here, you will visit Kenrokuen Garden, one of Japan's top three gardens. Continue your tour to Shirakawa-go and Takayama, located amongst the Japanese Alps. Due to their secluded location, these places are beautifully preserved and have developed their own culture unique from the rest of Japan.

Visit Hakone for spectacular views of Mt. Fuji and a volcanic zone known as Owakudani. End your tour in Tokyo, where you will get to learn how to make your own sushi with a professional chef. Our private guides and drivers will help you navigate through the city’s historical monuments, fashionable neighborhoods, and bustling shopping districts.
