Follow your guide through Tokyo’s cultural landmarks, fashionable neighborhoods, and diverse shopping districts. Visit the popular Studio Ghibli Museum, Asakusa Sensoji Temple, and Akihabara during your three days in Tokyo. Guests will also enjoy a manga design lesson and dine at fun, quirky restaurants such as Ninja Restaurant Akasaka. Spend some time in Hakone and at Mt. Day 1

Welcome to Tokyo

Welcome to Tokyo! We will arrange your private transportation from the airport. Please look for the guide with the All Japan Tours sign.

Day 2

Tokyo (Asakusa Sensoji Temple & Nakamise District / Samurai Kembu Experience / Dinner at Ninja Restaurant Akasaka)

We begin our journey by visiting Asakusa Sensoji Temple, Tokyo's oldest temple. Marvel at the architecture around the ancient Buddhist Temple and see one of the largest paper lanterns in Japan. You can also visit Nakamise Street, a historical shopping street lined with souvenir and snack shops near the temple. We then enjoy a samurai experience, trying on costumes, learning how to handle a Japanese sword, and watching a Kenbu preformance, a traditional Japanese performance where actors utilize katana and Japanese fans while reciting poems once sung by samurai. In the evening, we will then have dinner at the Ninja Restaurant Akasaka, a fun restaurant resembling a hidden ninja village from the Edo era. Enjoy this one- of-a-kind ninja dining experience!

Day 3

Tokyo (Ghibli Museum / Manga Lesson / Shibuya - Pokemon Center - Hachiko Statue - Shibuya Crossing)

This morning, we will visit the Studio Ghibli Museum, where various works of the Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli are on display. The museum itself was designed by Hayao Miyazaki, one of Studio Ghibli's founders and directors. We will then have our own lesson on manga design, a Japanese Manga Artist will show you tips and tricks on creating your own manga masterpiece. In the afternoon, travel to Shibuya, where we will first visit the Pokemon Center. Walk by the life- size Mewtwo statue as you head into the store to purchase exclusive Pokemon products, before heading to the Hachiko Statue, a popular meeting spot, to learn the story of the loyal dog. We will also walk the popular Shibuya Crossing Street, which can be seen in several anime including Skip Beat! and Tokyo Ghoul.

Day 4

Tokyo (Odaiba - Unicorn Gundam Statue / Akihabara - Shopping - Maid Café)

After breakfast, we will travel to Odaiba, a large artificial island in Tokyo Bay, to see the Unicorn Gundam Statue. This life-sized statue stands at 19.7 meters (about 64 feet) tall and replicates the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. We will then travel to Akihabara, where we will spend the rest of our day exploring and shopping. Considered by many to be the center of Japan's anime fan culture, several anime stores can be found throughout the streets. With so many stores to choose from, many people flock to Don Quijote for souvenirs and fun finds or Mandarake for anime and manga items. Visit a Maid Cafe, where waitresses dressed in maid costumes serve customers delicious meals or drinks.

Day 5

Mt. Fuji (5th Station - depending on the weather condition / Itchiku Kubota Art Museum)

After breakfast, we will travel together to Mt. Fuji where, if the weather allows, we may be able to visit the 5th Station of Mt. Fuji. The 5th Station is as far as cars or buses can take guests up the mountain. Enjoy the cool climate and vegetation as you explore Mt. Fuji's souvenir shops. We will then visit the nearby Kubota Itchiku Art Museum, named after the famous artist who had revived the forgotten art of Tsujigahana silk dyeing. Enjoy strolling through the gardens and marvel at Itchiku's unfinished masterpiece, which is comprised of 80 elaborate kimono decorated by the Tsujigahana silk dyeing technique. After arriving at our Japanese-style hotel in Hakone, enjoy a traditional kaiseki dinner, which consists of multiple courses. After dinner, you can unwind in the therapeutic bath waters of the hotel's hot spring baths.

Day 6

Hakone (Lake Ashi Cruise - Pirate Ship / Hakone Yumoto Evangelion Shop / Open Air Museum)

This morning, enjoy a scenic cruise around Lake Ashi in One Piece-style as you board a pirate ship. We then visit the Hakone Yumoto Evangelion Shop, where customers can buy souveniers or try the EVA-01 soft- serve ice cream (matcha/purple sweet potato flavor) and melon soda drink with grape jelly. On the way back to our inn, we will stop by the Hakone Open Air Museum, where the surrounding valley and mountains are used to compliment the sculptures and various exhibits. Once our group finishes exploring the museum, transfer back to the inn for another night of kaiseki dinner and hot spring baths.

Day 7

First Class Bullet Train to Nagoya, Iga Ueno (Iga Ninja Museum)

Today, transfer to Odawara Station, where we will board the high-speed bullet train to Nagoya. With Green Car tickets included, you will travel in comfort without worrying about crowds on the train. Upon arrival in Nagoya, we will travel to Iga Ueno to visit the Iga Ninja Museum, known for their ninja museum and ninja school. Enjoy a guided tour of the museum, which contains trap doors, hidden compartments, and a ninja show. After learning about the ninja way, we will travel to Kyoto, where we will spend the next few nights.

Day 8

Nara (Isuien Garden / Todaiji Temple / Deer Park)

We will travel to Nara for the day, first visiting the Isuien Garden near Todaiji Temple. Part of the garden dates back to the 17th century and uses the surrounding mountains and hills as the backdrop. Visit the small museum which displays various artifacts from ancient China and Korea. We then head over to the renowned Todaiji Temple. The main hall of this grand temple holds one of Japan's largest bronze statues of Buddha and is beautifully designed. Surrounding the temple, you will find hundreds of wild deer, which are accustomed to visitors, with some even bowing to guests.

Day 9

Osaka (Osaka Castle / Tsutenkaku Tower / Nipponbashi Den Den Town / Dotonbori)

Today we will explore Osaka, where we will first visit Osaka Castle. The construction of the castle started in 1583 and was the largest castle of its time. After enjoying the castle grounds, we will visit Tsutenkaku Tower, where we can see the entire city from the observation deck. We will make our way to Den Den Town in Nipponbashi, a popular shopping area known for its video games, anime, and manga goods. Explore the area and shop to your heart's content or try your hand at the popular crane games located at Game Taito Station. In the evening, head to Dotonbori where you can find Osaka street food such as Takoyaki (Octopus Dumplings).

Day 10

Kyoto (Fushimi Inari Shrine / Golden Pavilion / Arashiyama - Bamboo Forest)

Spend the next two days exploring Kyoto, starting with a visit to Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of vermilion Torii Gates. The gates weave through the mountains, making for a lovely walk. Travel to Golden Pavillion, known as Kinkakuji, where the top two floors have been covered in gold leaf and reflect on the surrounding pond. Spend the rest of the afternoon in Arashiyama, where we will walk through the bamboo forest.

Day 11

Kyoto (Kiyomizu Temple / Kimono Wearing Experience / Kodaiji Temple - Zen Meditation & Green Tea Ceremony / Gion Geisha District - Kyoto Kaiseki Dinner with Geisha Performance)

This morning, pay a visit to Kiyomizu Temple, one of the most celebrated temples in all of Japan. The temple was built near the Otowa Waterfall, which lies at the base of the temple's main hall. Nearby, we will try on kimono and have the opportunity for a souvenir photo. After changing out of the kimono, head to Kodaiji Temple, where guests will experience the relaxing effects of zen meditation and participate in a green tea ceremony. In the evening, head to the Gion Geisha District, where we will watch a geisha performance while enjoying traditional Kyoto cuisine. You can also explore the many shops located in the district.
