Day 1

Welcome to Tokyo

Welcome to Tokyo! We will arrange your private transportation from the airport. Please look for the guide with the All Japan Tours sign.

Day 2

Tokyo (Tsukiji Outer Market / Sushi Making Experience / Asakusa Sensoji Temple - Nakamise Shopping Street / Ninja & Samurai Lesson)

The day begins with a tour of the Tsukiji Outer Market, filled with shops and restaurants where you can try fresh seafood and shop for food-related goods. Next, enjoy a special Sushi-making Experience where you will learn to make different kinds of sushi (with vegetarian options available), and enjoy eating your own creations! Then, travel to Asakusa Sensoji Temple. Enter by way of the Kaminarimon “Thunder Gate”, underneath one of Japan’s largest paper lanterns. Don’t forget to look up to see the dragon sculpture under the lantern! Walk through the Nakamise Market – a street lined with shops selling traditional goods of all kinds, before approaching Sensoji Temple. Take some time to explore Tokyo’s oldest temple and shrine complex. Finally, take part in a Ninja and Samurai lesson, where you'll learn the history and habits of Japan's most fearsome Edo-era warriors.

Day 3

Tokyo (Visit animal and pet cafés on your interest)

Today, enjoy a full day of delight among Tokyo's cute animal friends. Tokyo is home to a number of adorable pet and animal cafes where you can enjoy tea or coffee, and even eat a light meal in the company of cats, dogs, rabbits, owls and other birds, even reptiles! This will be a heavenly experience for people who can't get enough of cute wildlife! After a day enjoying the company of animals, return to your hotel for a relaxing evening.

Day 4

Transfer to Haneda Airport for your domestic flight to Nakashibetsu Airport

In the morning, transfer to Haneda Airport for your domestic flight to Nakashibetsu Airport in Hokkaido, where you will transfer to your resort hotel on the beautiful Shiretoko Peninsula. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing evening at your hotel.

Day 5

Shiretoko (Charter boat cruise - Deer, foxes, bears may be seen along the shore, while sea animals such as dolphins, whales, sea lions and different types of sea birds can also be seen on the boat)

After breakfast, take part in a charter boat cruise around the UNESCO World Heritage Shiretoko Peninsula, where many of the local wildlife may be seen from the boat, including deer, foxes, bears, dolphins, whales, sea lions, and a variety of sea birds. In the evening, visit Washi no Yado, where you may catch a glimpse of the rare Blakiston's Fish Owl, which was considered sacred by Hokkaido's indigenous Ainu people. After, return to your hotel for a restful evening.

Day 6

Shiretoko (Shiretoko Five Lakes / Furepe Waterfall)

After breakfast, discover the breathtaking Shiretoko Five Lakes area. A landscape of mountains and largely unspoiled wilderness, the Shiretoko Five Lakes are a captivating location for those who enjoy the bounty of nature. Then we take an easy trip to visit Furepe Waterfall, which pours out from a sheer cliff into the sea of Okhotsk, seeming to spring directly out of the dark grey rocks. After, return to your hotel for a restful evening.

Day 7

Transfer to Nakashibetsu Airport for your domestic flight to Osaka

After breakfast, you will transfer to Nakashibetsu Airport for a domestic flight to Osaka, then transfer to your luxurious hotel in time-honored Kyoto. Upon arrival, check into your hotel for a restful evening.

Day 8

Kyoto (Fushimi Inari Shrine / Fushimi Sake District - Sake Tasting), Nara (Todaiji Temple / Nara Deer Park)

In the morning, travel to one of Kyoto's most impressive shrines, Fushimi Inari Shrine, home to hundreds of vermillion torii gates in a long tunnel about 4 kilometers long. From there, head to the Fushimi Sake District – known for its clear waters and home to over 40 traditional sake breweries. Next, travel to Nara, where you will behold the stunning Todaiji Temple, one of the largest wooden structures in Japan, and home to a massive seated Buddha. Outside is Nara Park, home to a herd of friendly, curious wild deer. These deer are some of the most polite in the world, many having learned to bow their heads when asking for one of the special crackers sold at one of the park stalls. After, return to your hotel for a restful evening.

Day 9

Kyoto (Nijo Castle / Golden Pavilion / Arashiyama - Tenryuji Temple & Garden - Bamboo Grove - Iwatayama Monkey Park)

Continue to explore Kyoto, traveling to Nijo Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site from Japan’s feudal era, and palatial former residence of the Tokugawa shogun. The opulent buildings and elegant interior are well preserved – the foremost example of Edo-era castle architecture. Next, visit the gorgeous Golden Pavilion, covered in bright gold leaf shimmering in the sun, crowned with a dainty golden phoenix on top. Then we will tour the Arashiyama district. First is a visit to see Tenryuji Temple where you can catch a glimpse of the traditional landscape garden design. Then proceed through a pathway bordered by a dense and mysterious grove of towering bamboo stalks. Finally, head over to the Iwatayama Monkey Park – an open area where hundreds of monkeys roam freely. After enjoying the playful macaques, return to the hotel for a relaxing evening.

Day 10

Kyoto (Kiyomizu Temple / Kimono Wearing Experience / Kodaiji Temple - Zen Meditation & Green Tea Ceremony / Gion Geisha District - Kyoto Kaiseki Cuisine with Geisha Performance)

In the morning, we will visit the famous Kiyomizu Temple, best known for its wooden stage that juts out from its main hall, 13 meters above the hillside below. The stage affords visitors a nice view of the numerous cherry and maple trees below that erupt in a sea of color in spring and fall, as well as of the city of Kyoto in the distance. Then, we will travel to Kodaiji Temple, which is a lavish temple built in the memory of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Here, we can experience Zen meditation and participate in a Green Tea Ceremony - a time-honored experience that is so much more fulfilling than just drinking any regular cup of matcha. We will end our day in the Gion Geisha District, where its streets are lined with ochaya (teahouses), exclusive establishments where guests are entertained by Geisha and Maiko. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy a live Geisha performance accompanied by a delicious kaiseki dinner.

Day 11

Transfer to Osaka Itami Airport for your domestic flight to Ishigaki Island

After breakfast, transfer to Osaka Itami Airport for your domestic flight to Ishigaki Island, the chief island of the Yaeyama Islands, which is located in the far-flung southwestern regions of Okinawa prefecture. Upon arrival , check into your resort hotel for a restful evening.

Ishigaki Island (Swimming with the manta rays in Kabira Bay, also called the Manta Scramble)

Today, visit beauteous Kabira Bay for a once-in-a- lifetime wildlife experience - the Manta Scramble. Dive in and swim with massive Manta Rays - some as large as a car! These gentle giants swim along as small fish come and clean their bodies of small bugs and other small organisms, and hover around for a short time, creating a perfect opportunity to observe these fascinating creatures. After, enjoy the rest of your day around the island or relaxing at your hotel.
