On this 14-Day Luxury Private Contemporary Art of Japan Tour, travelers can enjoy the range of Japan's contemporary artistry and inspiration on a tour from Tokyo to Kyoto, passing through Hakone, Kanazawa, and 3 Setouchi Art Islands – Naoshima, Inujima, and Teshima. This curated list of museums and exhibitions displays a broad scope of creativity from the contemporary era, both from native Japanese and international artists.

We handpicked locations from among the top museums and galleries in the country to appeal to lovers of contemporary art. In Tokyo, you can visit the National Art Center, 21-21 Design Sight, the Hara Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Watari-um Museum of Contemporary Art. In your travels across Japan, you will also experience the Open-Air Museum of Hakone, Kanazawa’s 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Miho Museum in Koka, before going to three islands in the Seto Inland Sea known for hosting the Setouchi Art Triennale – Naoshima, Inujima, and Teshima, with museums and permanent art installations you can appreciate throughout the year. These include the Art House Project, Chichu Art Museum, Lee Ufan Museum, I Love Yu bathhouse, Inujima Seirensho Art Museum, Teshima Art Museum, Teshima Yokoo House, and Les Archives du Cœur. You will even stay overnight at the Benesse House: part art gallery / part hotel.
