Please note: If you would like to request neighboring rooms next to your traveling companions, you and your traveling companions must have the same room types in order to be next to each other. For example, if you have requested a double room, but your traveling companions have requested a twin, or triple room, then neighboring rooms cannot be accommodated. Upon arrival, proceed through customs and meet your driver just outside the exit gate, they will be holding an “All Japan Tours” sign for easy visibility. Proceed to your hotel by private car. Upon arrival at the hotel, you will be free for leisure.
Today, you will tour the city of Tokyo with your guide via Japan’s famously efficient public transportation system. Begin your tour of the world’s largest metropolis at the Tsukiji Outer Market, filled with shops and restaurants where you can try fresh produce and other food-related goods. Then, visit the beautiful landscape garden of Hamarikyu which features seawater ponds that change level with the tides. Next, board a Sumida River Cruise and enjoy views of the city’s skyline and bridges. After landing in Asakusa, you will be taken to Asakusa Kannon Temple. This is an active place of worship where you can see the largest paper lantern in Japan. You will also be able to explore the Nakamise Market, which is located right after the temple's outer gates. This is a traditional-style shopping street with several centuries of history. Next, head to the electric city of Akihabara for its establishments dedicated to anime and manga culture. If you choose, you can also add a Sushi making experience to your day. Here, you will learn how to create your own sushi with a professional sushi chef. Whatever you make, you will get to eat for lunch! Please note, optional experiences may require an additional day.
After breakfast, our first stop be to enjoy the natural atmosphere of the Meiji Shrine, dedicated to Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. Stroll through the Takeshita district of Harajuku and surround yourself with fascinating shops and the latest fashion trends. Harajuku is especially known for its more eccentric fashions, but cute and conventional items can be purchased here as well. Not in the mood for shopping? Not to worry – Harajuku also is a great place for people watching! Then visit Omotesando Avenue, a sloping tree-lined boulevard in Tokyo's fashionable Aoyama district that goes through parts of both Shibuya and Minato wards. In Shibuya, visitors can experience the famous Shibuya crossing, take pictures with the Hachiko statue, and enjoy shopping. Afterwards, you will have the choice between two options. You’ll be able to look down on Shinjuku and the rest of the city from the observation decks of the Metropolitan Government building. With observatory floors in both towers at 202 meters (663ft), one can get an excellent view of the nearby Shinjuku ward, Central Park, Shinjuku Gyoen, and more when the skies are clear. Alternatively, spend time at the Shinjuku Samurai Museum, which features a variety of samurai armor displays and swords. Finally, explore the Shinjuku district itself. Well known for its diversity and nightlife, Shinjuku has much to offer any traveler including food, shopping, and activities.
Travel with your guide via public transportation to the land at the base of Mt. Fuji. Here, we will board a Lake Ashi Cruise where you can enjoy and appreciate Hakone’s natural scenery. Then, take a 20-minute ropeway ride from Togendai to Owakudani. Along the ropeway, weather permitting, there will be great views of Mt. Fuji in the distance. While in Owakudani, visitors will have the chance to see hot springs and sulfurous fumes along the trails of an active volcanic zone. Tonight, relax in the onsen hot spring and enjoy a traditional kaiseki dinner at your hotel.
Note: We will courier your big baggage from Tokyo to your ryokan in Miyajima. Please pack your essentials for 2 nights in a small bag to carry with you to Hakone.
Today, you will be free for leisure to explore Hakone on your own using your 2-day Hakone free pass.
After breakfast, make your way on your own to Odawara Station via shuttle bus. Then, board the bullet train to Hiroshima – included in your 7-day JR pass. From Hiroshima Station, make your way to your Ryokan in Miyajima.
Today, you will once again be free for leisure. Explore Miyajima Island on your own before returning to your Ryokan.
Today, you will be able to enjoy a half-day tour with your guide in Hiroshima. Our first destination of the day is the Peace Memorial Park. The Peace Park consists of the Peace Memorial Museum, the A-Bomb Dome, and the Cenotaph for the A-Bomb Victims. The Peace Park is one of the most significant features of the city, devoted to the events that occurred on August 6, 1945. Your tour will end at Hiroshima Station. You will then make your own way to Kyoto via bullet train – included in your 7- day JR pass. Upon arrival, make your way to your hotel on foot.
Note: We will courier your big baggage from Miyajima to your hotel in Kyoto. Please pack your essentials for 1 night in a small bag to carry with you to Kyoto.
Tour the historic city of Kyoto, beginning with the Fushimi Inari Shrine, renowned for its trail of thousands of torii gates. From there, head to the Fushimi Sake District – known for its clear waters and home to over 40 traditional sake breweries. Tour Kiyomizu-dera, a famous temple in Japan that is best known for its large wooden stage that overlooks a hillside of natural scenery. We will end our day in the Gion Geisha District, where its streets are lined with ochaya (teahouses), exclusive establishments where guests are entertained by Geisha and Maiko. If you choose, you can also add the following optional experiences. Please note, optional experiences may require an additional day. One such experience is to try on the traditional garment of Kimono. Many visitors to Kyoto will wear a Kimono for the day to complete the traditional atmosphere that the city is known for. You can also experience a Green Tea Ceremony, Rickshaw ride, Zen meditation in a temple with local monks, or a Kaiseki dinner with a Geisha performance.
Continue to explore Kyoto, traveling to Nijo Castle, a designated UNESCO world heritage site and a perfect architectural example of castles from the feudal era of Japan. Visit Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Pavilion, so known because it is covered with 18-karat gold leaf. This three- story structure was originally built by the Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1397. Then we will tour the Arashiyama district. First is a visit to see Tenryuji Temple where you can catch a glimpse of the traditional rock landscape garden design. Then proceed through a dense bamboo grove, past several small shrines, tea shops and private houses before arriving at the Togetsukyo Bridge over Hozu River. If you choose to add it to your itinerary, you will be able to enjoy the charming, old-fashioned trains of the Sagano Scenic Railway as you right through the mountains and take in the beautiful scenery. You may also choose to add a flat- bottomed boat cruise along the Hozugawa River where get a unique view of Arashiyama’s natural beauty.
Today, we will travel to Nara and visit the Isuien Garden. This is a traditional Japanese Garden with a scenic view structured using “shakkei” or borrowed scenery, fusing the background with the trees within the area. Then, we will visit one of Japan’s most famous temples and a landmark of Nara, Todaiji Temple. Outside the temple, interact with the wild deer of Nara Deer Park. There are special deer crackers available at every corner of the area. Our last destination for the day will be Kasuga Grand Shrine, the family shrine for the powerful Fujiwara clan during the Nara and Heian periods, with unique architectural traits and an area filled with various styled lamps. You may also want to add a Bamboo Chasen (tea whisk) making experience to this day to further your understanding of traditional Japanese culture and crafts.
After breakfast, you will be free for leisure. You may make your own way to Osaka Kansai Airport via Haruka Express Train – train tickets included.
